THERMAL STRAP TYPES
Thermal Straps (also referred to as "flexible thermal links," "heat straps," and "thermal braids"), are an important component in any thermal management system; providing a passive cooling solution that is often more affordable, cleaner, and posing less risk to expensive components in UHV and spaceflight applications. At the heart of the function of a thermal strap is to transfer heat from a heat source to the heat sink, via flexible, conductive materials (which serve the dual purpose of heat transfer as well as vibration isolation).
Because there is a wide range of conductive materials used in straps, and different products are better suited to certain environmental conditions and performance requirements, the process of identifying the proper material and choosing the best supplier can be confusing.
